Summer Solstice
SUP Adventure Retreat in Norway
18-23 June 2027
Come join this once-in-a-lifetime Summer Solstice paddle boarding retreat on Norway’s central west coast.
Our forest hideaway is a unique eco camp, lovingly handmade by our local hosts. Think tree tents and eco cabins with comfy double beds and panoramic lake or forest views, cosy glamping tents and outdoor hammocks.
We’ll have our own dedicated space with an outdoor kitchen, shared dining and chill-out areas, campfires and quiet corners to soak up the lakeside views.
There are trails from our doorstep, a mountain lake just 800 metres away for our midnight paddle and a fjord 4km away for gentle adventures. Yep, we might even spot a local moose!
Read on for all the juicy details — where we’re staying, what we’ll get up to, costs and getting here…
A Taste of Your Time
-
Living in Community
This isn’t your traditional retreat experience - this is an adventure retreat - one that centres nature, going back to basics and living together in community.
We will be living together in community, deep in nature and for the most part, away from civilisation. This is an opportunity to experience outdoor living but with some creature comforts. There are options for how wild you’d like to go - from sleeping in outdoor hammocks to being suspended in a tree tent to glamping pods with comfy beds and “luxurious” cabins with heating and amazing views. There is also the option to “have a go” - with outdoor beds and hammocks available for sleeping under the stars should you wish.
Although the majority of our basic needs will be met we encourage you to embrace living wild and leaning into your edges. For some that could be a digital detox and packing light, for others the decision not to wear make up can be daunting and for some sleeping outside can feel super edgy. It’s totally up to you how you’d like to explore this.
Together we will nurture and hold a safe, fun and supportive environment for the whole.
-
The Activities
We have awesome activities lined up for this trip, all activities are hosted by a mix of local practitioners and the SUP & Soul team and are all included in the price of your trip. Activities include:
Day and midnight lake paddles & picnic
A fjord paddle & picnic
Trondheim city paddle with sauna and lunch
Wild swimming adventures & a surprise treat
Gentle walks and hikes right from our camp
Gentle yoga and breath work
Qi Gong
Sound bath and ceremony
Nature connection & creativity sessions
All activities are optional - it’s up to you if you’d like to join in or take time for yourself. This is your time to enjoy as you wish.
-
Food & Refreshments
The invitation for our time together is to live in community - supporting each other and helping to care for ourselves and our companions. Together we will help nourish the group and take it in turns to wash and clear up after meals. We will all pitch in to help keep our camp clean, tidy and welcoming.
Meals each day will be quite varied - the breakfasts will be prepared together, lunches will be a combination of catered picnics and dining out, dinner will be a mix of cooking together and catered options being brought into the camp. The SUP & Soul team will always lead the planning and organising of each of the meals with volunteers invited in to assist.
-
Paddle Boarding
Paddle boards will be supplied by our camp hosts - you are also welcome to bring your own board and/or paddle. We can all grow quite attached to our kit! The boards provided are available to us to use all week. We will have a local host alongside Cami from SUP & Soul leading each of the paddle and acting as our local guide. Safety gear is provided (leash & buoyancy aids).
It is a requirement that all guests have a minimum of 10 hours paddling with at least 4 hours of this on the sea, or suitably confident in your skills that you are comfortable to paddle along the coast of on an open fjord. You must also be able to self rescue and paddle comfortably in windy conditions. There will be time allocated to coaching sessions during some of the paddles. If you’re unsure about anything please just ask.

NEAREST AIRPORT
Trondheim Airport is the nearest airport to Ekne (our location). It is approx 30 min drive.
If you cannot find direct flights to Trondheim the other option is to fly via a connecting city e.g. Oslo (Norway), Amsterdam (Netherlands), London (UK). There may well be others.
There are regular connecting flights from Oslo with the below airlines:
Scandinavian Airlines https://www.flysas.com/gb-en/
Norwegian https://www.norwegian.com/
TRAIN
You can take a train from Oslo to Trondheim Airport (and see the wonderful sights of the country en route) - it’s nearly 7 hours, one way tickets are approx £75.
From there you’ll need to get a connecting train to Åsen (approx 20 mins). We will then arrange to collect you from there by car or taxi.

EXTENDING YOUR TRIP
You might even want to extend your trip while you’re over in Norway and take in some other sights!
Trondheim city itself is worth a visit. My hometown Ålesund is also very beautiful (yes, I’m a little bias!) and both Bergen and Oslo are great cities to explore too.
As all Norwegian cities they’re small, the houses are colourful, the sea is never far away and you’re almost always close to nature.
Check out Visit Norway for more info/ideas.
DRIVING
Driving in Norway is super easy (they drive on the right) and of course car hire is always a great idea - you could always pick up a car from Trondheim and drop it at another airport.

National travel to Trondheim
Transfer to the retreat location - we may well be able to arrange shared transfers depending on your arrival time
Although wetsuit hire is included we can’t guarantee we’ll have a complete range of all sizes so it’ll be on a first come first served basis. We’ll check this with you at the time of booking. Please do bring your own wetsuit/water shoes.
Mountain walking/gentle hiking - we are free to explore the area around the camp. There are signposted walking trails that lead directly from our camp and into the surrounding woodland. We are not qualified mountain leaders and these gentle hikes are offered as optional group activities. They emphasis is on gentle hiking and offered as an invitation to join based on your own fitness, comfort level and physical ability.
Personal travel insurance - it is required to have your own travel insurance and we’ll need to see a copy of your insurance before before arriving in the camp.
-
The weather in Norway is completely unpredictable - much like the UK and northern Europe. It could be cloudy and raining one minute and then clear and sunny the next.
Average temperatures in mid June are 18-23° Celsius with it feeling much hotter in the direct sun.
It’s all about clothing - if you have the right clothes you’ll be prepared for anything.
Bring a hat, a rain jacket, warm socks for nighttime and a choice of lighter clothing to layer up with and you’ll be just fine!
-
If you’d like to join the paddling activities then ideally you’ll have already learned how to paddle board before joining us and will have at least 10-14 hours of paddling under your belt. If this is an issue let me know and we can work out a plan to get you ready.
-
That’s absolutely fine - you can totally take it easy, do as little or as much as you like and join in whatever takes your fancy. It would be great if we could aim to have our welcome dinner, the catered lunches and the final dinner together but of course if you need to sit out at any point that is absolutely fine.
-
We will provide a full packing list after booking.
-
This is a women only experience.
We have a maximum capacity of 12 places available - this helps to ensure a cosy, intimate vibe between us.And although we can’t guarantee it, we’re confident all SUP & Soul guests will be super awesome women and we’ll host the experience in such a way that everyone has the opportunity to meet and get to know each other. At no point wiNB - there will be we allow for anyone to feel left out, isolated or not part of the community. Please note that although this is a women only experience the owners of the camp are a married couple with young children so there will be a man around occasionally refilling water stations, bringing up food from their farm and helping remove rubbish from the site.
-
You can absolutely come alone or with friends. If you do come on your own just remember you’ll always have a friend in your hosts (Cami, Maria and Rainie) and by the end of the trip I’m pretty sure you’ll have at least 12 more! The SUP & Soul team will be hosting this experience in such a way that everyone will have time to get to know each other.
Plus we’ll factor in plenty of down time so anyone who needs to step away from the group to reenergise can do so without missing out on anything.
-
You can get sports activities included in your travel insurance - just make sure that SUP and hiking are both included in your cover! I will be asking you to verify you have this insurance before joining any of the activities.
-
For the most part it’s likely this will be an alcohol free experience and isn’t something that will be supplied in camp, available with meals or even easily accessible to buy as we don’t have any nearby shops.
So although we’re not putting any restrictions on alcohol the advice is to embrace an alcohol free experience.
Please note - we will not take people on the water if they’ve been drinking the night before or before getting on the water. This would put you and the whole group at risk and would impact the validity of any insurance.
Be aware that alcohol is very expensive in Norway and not readily available in all supermarkets.
Please also respect that not everyone drinks alcohol - this experience is about getting out into nature and enjoying gentle adventures with like-minded souls. That said, should anyone fancy a wine or G&T alongside lunch in Trondheim city then that is absolutely fine too.
