This event isn’t suitable for complete beginner paddle boarders. Ideally you will have learned to paddle ahead of the event and are comfortable to paddle for up to 4 hours either standing, with some time on your knees. If you can self rescue un-aided that would be super but not to worry if not - the team are on hand to support and we may even practice this so everyone has the opportunity to learn and develop new skills. If you’re unsure, there’s the option to join a beginner or progression paddle lesson with Cami ahead of the weekender to find your paddle feet (at extra cost but there is a 20% discount for all Water & Wellness Weekender booked guests). Drop a note in the booking form and Cami will be in touch to discuss.

Our wild camp is a hidden location in the heart of the South Downs National Park just north of Shoreham and close to Steyning and Upper Beeding.
We have plenty of outdoor space with a canopy area for shelter/shade if we need it.
There’s a large dome for indoor sessions that is heated and has electricity for phone charging.
We will have a bell tent village with each bell tent sleeping a maximum of 3 people in single beds - 12 guests in total.
There’s plenty of green space to enjoy around the camp plus a fire pit with log seating.
There are toilets and a shower available to use.
There’s a basic outdoor kitchen with a fridge but no cooking facilities. All food will be provided by the SUP & Soul team using the fire pit and some pre-prepared dishes - all vegetarian.

The intention is to have a taste of a mini paddle boarding expedition - the invitation is for the group to paddle themselves and all their overnight gear to our comfy, cosy and slightly wild camp and back home again the next day.
It’s an opportunity to lean into travelling light, allowing yourself to disconnect and be completely immersed in nature - only taking what you can carry on your paddle board and accepting that the rest can be left behind.
There’s no need to bring lots of things–just yourself, your paddle clothing, a dry bag big enough to carry a water bottle, sun cream, an outfit and footwear that’s suitable for our land-based activities and something warm for the evening, PJs and toiletries.
That said, we will have spare blankets, toothpaste and warm clothing that people can borrow if you really want to travel light.
Everything else, including bedding and yoga mats, will be provided.
We’ll paddle up with the tide on Saturday 1 August and back with the tide in the afternoon on Sunday 2 August. Easy peasy.
If this feels too much there is also the option for our team to transfer your belongings to our camp from the meeting/paddle launch point and back.
This is an invitation, and totally up to you. It can be quite liberating to only take what you need and travel light. For some people this feels easy, for others it can feel edgy and slightly out of their comfort zone. We want to give you the opportunity to challenge yourself in a way that feels accessible and safe.
There’s no need to decide now, you can make up your mind closer to the day.

We like to keep our groups intentionally small and have a maximum capacity of 12 places available - this helps to nurture a comfortable, cosy and intimate feeling among our guests. Guests will share bell tents with 2 others. If you’d rather camp out on your own there are options to bring your own 1-2 person tent but we can only accommodate this for a couple of tents. The price will remain the same. Please let us know in the booking form if this is your preference.

It’s totally up to you if you’d prefer to come along on your own or with friends. The bell tents accommodate 3 people with a comfy single bed per person. For any solo guests the SUP & Soul team will ensure you feel welcome and at ease but rest assured these events are all about helping to build a sense of community and ensure everyone leaves feeling like they’ve made new friends.

The only weather types that might hinder our plans are thunder storms, strong winds and torrential rain. Otherwise we’ll plan to paddle. Should the forecast not work in our favour we can still walk along the river, which has a gorgeous and accessible footpath all the way to our camp. All will not be lost and we’ll still enjoy a mini-expedition experience. A decision on this will be made at least 48 hours before the event and communication sent to all guests. Once at our camp we will have covered areas to rest and relax and enjoy all that nature throws at us! This is meant to be a rewilding weekend after all.
-
Nope. All bedding is provided by the venue. Please do advise if you have any allergies so we can inform the venue with the information ahead of the weekend.
-
Yes - there are 1-2 spaces in our camp available for anyone who would prefer to sleep alone or with friends. There are limited spaces though so please let us know asap to bag yours. As we’ll be paddling to our camp and back again you can either carry your gear on your board (for the complete self guided paddle expedition experience!) or we can arrange for your gear to be taken to our camp separately. Just let us know in your booking form.

Tea, coffee, hot water to keep us going throughout the day.
2x 2-3 hour hosted river paddle board trips hosted by Camilla, an experienced, qualified and fully insured ASI SUP instructor who is outdoor first aid trained.
All paddle boarding equipment - top quality boards, paddles, leashes and buoyancy aids. Guests are also welcome to bring their own. This doesn’t affect the price.
Freshly prepared vegetarian meals and homemade treats - day one will be lunch and dinner with snacks and day two will be breakfast and a light lunch plus snacks.
A 60-90 minute sound bath hosted by Cami & Maria - experienced, qualified and fully insured sound bath practitioners.
Yin Yoga & Guided Meditation with Rainie, a qualified, experienced and fully insured Yoga Instructor.
Magic and mystery. If we told you absolutely everything where would the delightful element of surprise be! But rest assured, there’s no scary surprises - just lots of loveliness and care.
Guided morning (gentle) hike around our South Downs camp in all its stunning glory.
-
Transport to our paddle launch location and parking. There is overnight parking available that’s free. Closer to the time we will try to help coordinate lift shares to our launch location as well.
And if you don’t wish to carry your belongings on the board then we can arrange for these to be collected and brought to the camp from our meeting point.
Wetsuit hire - we have a small amount of wetsuits available - if you need one let us know in your enquiry form and we can try to arrange. As it’s mid summer wetsuits aren’t necessary as the air temperature should be warm enough to air dry should you fall in and the water temperature is quite pleasant in August.
Personal travel insurance - it is recommended that all guests have their own travel insurance that includes local activities in the UK, such as paddle boarding and gentle hiking.
